The QSIDE Colloquium

QSIDE hosts a semi-monthly Colloquium series that features the research of scholars of marginalized identities and those conducting data science research into social justice. The QSIDE Colloquium has brought together hundreds of scholars and activists nationally to learn about methods, theory, and social justice research projects in our five research areas.  Through the Colloquium, QSIDE provides an ongoing platform and elevation for the voices, research, and action of social justice scholarship.

A sponsorship of the Colloquium Series will go directly towards compensating Colloquium speakers, who are leading experts in their fields, along with the operational costs of reaching the broadest audience possible.

Datathon4Justice

QSIDE will be hosting its inaugural Datathon4Justice in the fall of 2021. Focused on Consortium member institutions and their students, the datathon will create a unique opportunity for senior scholars to work with emerging student researchers to focus on an intensive social justice research question. Modeled after other data/hackathons, the Datathon4Justice will bring together activists, social scientists, and data scientists from varying stages of their research careers for an intensive weekend of community, coding, analysis, writing, and connection to boots-on-the-ground activist outcomes.

The theme of the 2021 Datathon4Justice will be criminal justice reform, either in the judiciary or in policing. Plans are emerging on this project, and a sponsorship will give your organization a seat at the table to help guide the development of this exciting event!

Our goal is to encourage the citation of marginalized scholars in academic and scholarly works to diversify the future of scholarly discourse and create a virtuous cycle for traditionally undercapitalized and underrepresented scholars.

A sponsorship of the DRIVER program will go directly towards helping QSIDE continue to expand the breadth and influence of this new and impactful database, which is available online at https://bit.ly/QSIDE-DRIVER.
