Opportunity Youth are 16-24 year olds who are not currently connected to the resources that all young adults need to thrive.
If you are interested in supporting Opportunity Youth through research or services, below are a few data tools that may be helpful:
diversitydatakids.org offers an interactive dashboard that combines education, environmental, and economic data into index scores. This tool enables comparative analysis of inequity across geographic regions: https://www.diversitydatakids.org/maps/#/explorer/counties/0/23/13,18,23//x/c/n/5.1.1/35.273/-102.374/3.73/
Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Kids Count Data Center is a comprehensive source of data on children and young adults in the United States. It’s an excellent starting point for data projects focused on youth and opportunity youth: https://datacenter.aecf.org/data?location=USA#USA/1/0/char/0.
The Opportunity Youth Index is a data dashboard that compiles information on disconnected youth, youth in foster care, justice-involved youth, and youth with incarcerated parents. It provides both estimated counts and rates per 1,000 for each area to help identify areas with the most youth currently in need of services: bit.ly/OYDash
