QSIDE has forged a partnership with the Responsible Business Initiative for Justice (RBIJ) and Jobs for the Future (JFF) to build a robust research framework to identify effective practices for hiring people with criminal records, and to support those who were formerly incarcerated to thrive in meaningful employment.
“Previous research indicates that meaningful employment decreases future criminal activity. However, there is still much to learn about the policy and business choices that ensure people impacted by the justice system are successful in the workplace,” said Zofia Stanley, QSIDE’s Associate Director of Research. “We hope to learn from our partners at RBIJ and JFF about the various elements of their programs and to use our technical skills to identify cutting-edge data science methodology to measure, estimate, and predict success for the formerly incarcerated.”
This partnership, supported by The Justice and Mobility Fund, a collaboration launched by The Ford Foundation and Blue Meridian Partners with support from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies, aims to provide quantitative data that will inform inclusive hiring practices – and ultimately, to encourage more businesses to realize the benefits of hiring workers with records.
